I am a full-charge bookkeeper during the day and an artist at night and on the weekends.

I am originally from Texas but have lived in Southern California for eleven years. I have three grown daughters, and five grandchildren. All live in Texas.

I am a self-taught artist and love fiddling around with various mediums. I love vibrant colors, as you can probably see. And I love to create color combinations that seem to help change moods for the better.

About five or six years ago I had an idea to create a line of products that were Chinese characters translated to English. I love Chinese characters. To me, they are an art form in themselves. So, at 65 years old, I asked myself, "What are you waiting for?" I didn't have a ready answer so I got started on the project in January or February 2011.

Now, I really wanted to do digital art. Not because it was necessary for my collection but because it was a challenge and I simply wanted to do it. Oh, I had done other pieces of art in oils, oil pastels, acrylics, pencil, charcoal, etc. But I had seen digital art pieces and they seemed quite mesmerizing. It was something I just wanted to learn to do.

Anyway, to start on my collection I had to learn how to use PhotoShop Elements 9. Let me tell you, that was one of the more difficult things I have ever done in my life. What a learning curve that was. It took about three or four months until I became comfortable enough with PhotoShop that I could actually create some really nifty effects. And if that wasn't enough torture, I then had a great idea --I'd create my own website! Wow, and I thought PhotoShop was tough. But I did finish that website -- is the where it lies very happily and humbly. I am quite proud of it as it represents a ton of work. It also represents a great education on what website designers go through and how they truly earn every cent they make. I used to think they were all way too pricey. Well, I have definitely changed my mind.

Here's a great irony: After all that work on creating my own website, I found Fine Art America --oh well, I guess I have two websites now. And Fine Art America makes having a website so incredibly simple. It's not like having to learn all the ins and outs of ecommerce and html and css and all of that stuff, like I did before. They do all that for us. Plus they can reproduce my collection much, much more inexpensively that I can ever do on my own.

One more thing about all this pesky 21st century stuff...I recently decided to do the Facebook thing. Oy vey, another huge learning curve!

There's something about being an old goat and living in the 21st century that is a bit unsettling, to say the least. But I am learning and I do want to continue learning.

That's pretty much it about me. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy my collection.
